Edwin Hubble-Columbus of the Cosmos Birthplace-Marshfield, Webster County, Missouri
The replica, dedicated on July 4th, 1994, is named for Hubble, who was born in Marshfield. Hubble received an undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and studied law as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford. After earning his doctorate degree at the University of Chicago, he began studying astronomy. Hubble died in 1953.
The 1/4 scale replica weighs 1,200 pounds.
